MADRID (12 February 2013) – At the 2013 World ATM Congress, COCESNA (the Central American corporation for Air Navigation Services) and FlightAware today announced that they are working on forming a collaborative effort to improve the exchange and availability of live flight data across Central America as well as integration of Central American flight data around the world via data exchanges and innovative technology.

COCESNA intends to leverage FlightAware’s technical expertise to improve data exchanges between COCESNA and foreign ANSPs that will improve operational performance as well as flight efficiency. Additionally, FlightAware will be working with COCESNA to deploy FlightAware services at COCESNA to allow for better reporting and monitoring of airport and flight operations, conditions, and patterns across Central America and beyond.

COCESNA intends to provide FlightAware with comprehensive flight data across Central America for inclusion in FlightAware’s services. All of FlightAware’s services will soon incorporate the Central American coverage including the web site as well as FlightAware Global, an operational flight tracking system for aircraft operators, FBO ToolBox, an operational tool for FBOs and handling agents, FlightXML, a live flight tracking API, and FlightAware Mobile apps for iPad, iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Playbook, Windows Phone, and Symbian.

"COCESNA is a great opportunity for us to assist with technology projects as well as integrate a large amount of airspace data," FlightAware CEO Daniel Baker, explained. "We’re excited to include COCESNA’s airspace in our services and look forward to enabling more data exchanges that improve Central American flight operations."
